A posthumous award for the heroic firefighter

President Andrzej Duda, in recognition of his exceptional courage and dedication, posthumously awarded the Cross of Merit for Bravery to the late. Łukasz Włodarczyk. This heroic firefighter gave his life while helping during a tragic fire that broke out in Jeżyce in Poznań.

The decoration, awarded for actions performed in particularly difficult conditions, was presented to the Deceased's wife, Magdalena Włodarczyk, during the funeral ceremony in Tuchorza.


Tragic Fire in Jeżyce


Dramatic events took place on the night from Saturday to Sunday, when a fire engulfed a tenement house in Poznań's Jeżyce. During the heroic rescue operation, two firefighters died and eleven others were injured. Łukasz Włodarczyk, one of those who gave their lives, was honored posthumously for his dedication and unwavering attitude in the face of danger.


Funeral Ceremonies and Family Support


During the funeral ceremony, which took place in Tuchorza, the award was presented on behalf of the President of the Republic of Poland by the Secretary of State in the Chancellery of the President, Andrzej Dera. This is an expression of the highest appreciation for the courage and dedication of firefighters who risk their lives every day to protect others. On Friday, the funeral of the second deceased firefighter, Senior Firefighter Patryk Michalski, who also died during the operation on Kraszewskiego Street, will also be held in Poznań.


Heroism and Memory


The deaths of Łukasz Włodarczyk and Patryk Michalski are a reminder of the dangers that firefighters face every day. Their sacrifice will not be forgotten, and the posthumous distinction is a symbol of recognition for all those who risk their lives to serve others. In the face of such a great tragedy, the local community and the whole of Poland are united in memory and respect for those who died in the line of duty.
