A sharp increase of the VAT gap

The Minister of Finance revealed disturbing information.

The Ministry of Finance estimates that the VAT gap in 2023 will amount to 15.8%. Minister of Finance Andrzej Domański recalled that a year earlier, in 2022, the VAT gap was 7.3%. and even earlier in 2021 - only 2.6% of GDP.

The VAT gap, i.e. the difference between the expected and actually obtained VAT revenues, "increased significantly" again in 2023 - concluded Minister of Finance Andrzej Domański.

“It is extremely important for me to further tighten the tax system, but of course also to make life easier for Polish entrepreneurs. We know that the VAT gap has increased significantly again in 2023. We need new tools to seal the system. However, the paramount value for me must be and is taking care of the stability of economic transactions in our country, said Domański during a press conference.
