In a specially prepared semi-trailer of a truck there were rooms which could be left after solving the puzzles. This Dutch educational project aimed to raise public awareness of the phenomenon of human trafficking. For two days, police officers taught how to counteract this type of threats.
Escapetruck came to Lublin. The truck was parked in the parking lot at Hala Globus. In the following days, this Dutch project will be available in Biała Podlaska, Chełm and Świdnik.
The Escapetruck project was created on the initiative of the Dutch Police and the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, in cooperation with the Human Trafficking Research Center at the University of Wrocław and the Polish Police and Border Guard.
In a modern and surprising way, it draws attention to the issue of human trafficking, which was presented in the form of a popular escape room. Participants in the game learned the true stories of people who became victims of human trafficking and who managed to escape from the hands of their perpetrators. During the game, participants had to get out of the truck by solving interactive tasks and breaking codes. The key task of the players was to help the virtual victim get out of the difficult situation he found himself in.
The rooms in the escape room have been prepared to reflect the living conditions of victims of human trafficking, raising awareness of their suffering and trauma. Inside, you could hear unpleasant sounds and smell unpleasant odors.
Even though it was a game, the participants were forced to think deeply. The policemen present on site provided information on the threats, methods and mechanisms of criminals' actions and the rights of victims of human trafficking. Participation in the project was free of charge and available to people over 16 years of age.
Aware that anyone can become a victim of human trafficking, the Polish Police actively engages in various activities aimed at preventing and combating this practice. In addition to the professionalism of the services and institutions involved, the social awareness of citizens is very important.
