Excise tax increases sharply

The Ministry of Finance is planning steep increases in excise duty on tobacco products. This has surprised the industry because it has nothing to do with the agreement signed in 2021.

The excise tax increases were to be gradual – 10% per year on cigarettes and 5% on alcohol. Meanwhile, the health and finance ministries in Donald Tusk's government announced that the excise tax on cigarettes and other tobacco products would increase by 25% each year. The excise tax on inserts for modern tobacco heaters would increase by 50%, and on e-cigarette liquids by as much as 75%.: M
