F-35 without the red and white checkerboard

The Chief of the General Staff of the Polish Army, Wiesław Kukuła, announced that the F-35 will not have the traditional red and white checkerboard on their bodies.
The machines are to be delivered to the Polish army in early 2026. The fighters were purchased under the 2020 contract. Their value is USD 4.6 billion. 32 planes will be sent to Poland.

As Kukuła said:

There will be no traditional white and red checkerboards on Polish F-35s. On this model, we will use grayscale checkerboards determined by the opacity technology. We are changing the regulations in this regard.

The general explained why this change:

This is a conscious decision - we were even informed how much it would affect the probability of detection. The most important thing is "warfighting" and the safety of our pilots.

As we can see, in order to maintain the radar "invisibility" of fighters, our planes will receive a checkerboard pattern, but in a gray scale. The general added that this change may also affect other aviation structures in the Polish army:

The change in regulations for the F-35 opens the way to similar changes on other platforms. In the case of the F35, it is also a technological necessity. For other platforms, it's a more tactical need. Recommendations for possible changes in the hands of General Nowak and his people.
