Inflation spike is approachin

The deputy president of the National Bank of Poland says that this will be a consequence of anti-inflation shields abolition.

The first vice-president of the National Bank of Poland, Marta Kightley, believes that the inflation jump will be short-lived and temporary. In her opinion, inflation may reach 7.5% by the end of 2024.

“This is a consequence of the increase in food tax from zero to 5%. In the March inflation projection, we showed what may happen when the government starts to remove the anti-inflation shields," says the vice-president of the NBP.

"As of today, the data from the economy are such that at the end of the year inflation will go up and next year and in 2026 we will reach the target while maintaining the current interest rates," the vice-president noted.
