The Levi Strauss denim factory in Płock, which has been operating for 31 years, will cease production by June this year. According to some media, up to 650 people may lose their jobs.

The increasingly demanding situation on the labour market, constantly rising production costs and dynamic evolution of market requirements – these are the reasons for Levi Strauss decision.

Further, the jeans manufacturer and owner of several clothing brands points out that it was increasingly difficult to employ "skilled workers" and maintain full efficiency of the plant in Płock. High inflation and rising energy prices also contributed to that decision.

(...) The company works across the entire supply chain to ensure flexibility, manage costs and support long-term strategic goals. In this case, it means looking for a more vertical model for the work that was performed in Płock - explains the company in a statement quoted by "PB".

The company did not provide the information how many people will lose their jobs. It was emphasized that after closing the factory, it would still employ "over 250 people" in 25 stores and in the sales and customer service teams.
