Mass layoffs at Polish Post

5,000 employees will lose their jobs

Jacek Bartmiński, Deputy Minister of State Assets, has informed the Sejm that the Management Board of Polish Post intends to reduce the number of full-time positions by 5,000 this year. This means, among other things, that employees with mandate contracts or fixed-term employment contracts cannot count on their extension.

The deputy minister assured that the transformation plan being prepared does neither provide for the liquidation of Polish Post nor limiting its activities to "some hull shape".

“The number of approximately 5 thousand full-time positions, these are not people, but full-time positions, these are - how to say it in accounting terms - job positions by which Polish Post, the new management of Polish Post, intends to reduce the employment level for 2024” - said the deputy minister.

This is to happen, the politician argued, as a result of natural staff turnover. This means that the hiring of new employees will be limited and expiring contracts will not be extended.

Polish Post is a State Treasury company, the largest postal operator on the domestic mark

et. It employs over 66,000. employees, and its network covers 7.6 thousand. branches and postal agencies throughout Poland.
