President Andrzej Duda and Agata Kornhauser-Duda hosted the Albanian Presidential Couple at the Belweder Palace today. After the official welcome ceremony and the meeting of both couples, political talks between the leaders began, and the Presidential Wives jointly visited the Children's Memorial Health Institute.

The history and daily work of this largest pediatric hospital in Poland was told to the First Ladies by Marek Migdał, Director of the Institute, and Mieczysław Litwin, Head of the Nephrology, Kidney Transplantation and Arterial Hypertension Clinic. Each year, a quarter of a million children from all over the country find support within the walls of the Institute. In addition, the center conducts and coordinates a number of domestic and foreign projects, and Polish doctors train and support their counterparts, including those from Ukraine.

Poland and Albania also cooperate for the benefit of young patients. Specialists from both countries work together on clinical trials as part of youth advisory groups – KIDS Albania operating in Albania (established in 2017 at the Mother Teresa University Hospital), and in Poland – POLPEDNET KIDS at the Children's Health Centre.

Both groups will meet in July this year at an international congress in Bari, Italy.

As part of her activities, Agata Kornhauser–Duda has visited the hospital many times, and cooperated with the Institute, among others, in the evacuation of sick Ukrainian children after the outbreak of the war.

Today, the IPCZD supports the training of Ukrainian doctors, the exchange of experience and knowledge in the treatment of the youngest, and the director of the facility also told the First Ladies about this.

The First Ladies also met with young patients. During workshops in the hospital common room, they talked about the children's plans, school challenges, everyday life in the hospital and returning home.

– The Presidential Palace is open to everyone, I invite you whenever you have the strength and desire – Agata Kornhauser-Duda told the patients as she said goodbye.

In the afternoon, the Wives of the Presidents of Poland and Albania visited the Royal Castle in Warsaw, where the First Lady of Albania had the opportunity to learn about a part of Polish history that took place in this place.
