NATO exercises by the Vistula River

"Dragon-24" is the Polish element of the ongoing NATO exercise "Steadfast Defender-24". 20,000 soldiers and 3,500 units of equipment from 9 NATO countries take part in the exercise. The main task of which is to cross the Vistula River by Polish Army and allied forces. The vast majority, as many as 15,000 are Polish soldiers.

“These types of exercises fulfil NATO's mission of deterrence and are not directed against anyone. But the context of what is happening in the world today is obvious. It is obvious that we must be ready here and now, every day, to fulfil our obligations to our allies” said Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz, the Minister of National Defence.


"Dragon-24" is part of the NATO exercises under the common code called “Steadfast Defender 24”. The exercises take place in Central Europe and soldiers from all countries of the North Atlantic Alliance and Sweden take part in them. In total, there are approximately 90,000 soldiers involved. The aim of these exercises is to test NATO's ability to defend and deter. Poland serves as one of the host countries.
