Purges in polish embassies

Radosław Sikorski began a purge in diplomatic missions. The ambassadors also include candidates proposed by the management of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs during the rule of Law and Justice. However, the final decision will be taken by the President of the Republic of Poland, Andrzej Duda.

“Minister of Foreign Affairs Radosław Sikorski decided on 13 of March to end the mission of over 50 ambassadors and to withdraw several candidacies submitted for approval by the previous management of the ministry," we read in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs statement.

"The government, which has constitutional responsibility for foreign policy, believes that the necessary replacement of Polish representatives abroad serves a better, professional implementation of the difficult challenges facing Polish foreign policy today," the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement.

Donald Tusk referred to the changes in ambassadorial positions in these words:

“The President rather resigned from cooperation; Minister Sikorski and I had decided to ask the President for consent to changes in most embassies” he said.

Sikorski said in an interview with RMF FM:

“There will be no ambassadors unless the president agrees. They will be chargé d'affairs” he said.

”This is the beginning of the procedure. We will do it in a civilized way” Sikorski assured, speaking about changes in embassies. “To recall one ambassador and appoint another one to this post requires time and a dozen or so signatures” - he explained.

President Andrzej Duda wants diplomats in the United States, France, NATO and the UN to remain ambassadors.
