Safe holidays with the Presidential Couple

Each year, before the summer holidays, the Presidential Couple invites children and young people from all over Poland to the gardens of the Presidential Palace to talk about the rules of safe behavior during summer holidays, proper conduct in emergency situations and safe functioning in cyberspace.

Dear Young Friends! We are always very pleased when - either in the Palace or in the Palace gardens - joyful children's laughter resounds - Agata Kornhauser-Duda welcomed the young guests.


The President's wife expressed her best wishes for the upcoming Children's Day. – I wish you that you will always have the opportunity to pursue your plans and develop your passions and interests, that this special, childlike curiosity of the world will accompany you for as long as possible, but most importantly: that you will always feel loved and safe – she said.


Andrzej Duda pointed out that the holiday period, when young people spend so much time outdoors with their peers, is special.


But remember that danger can come not only during the holidays. Therefore, the skills and knowledge that can be acquired here today are invaluable in everyday life. You may need it if a dangerous situation happens to you or someone nearby, he said.


The following people were honored for their services in saving human lives:


Klaudia and Oskar Bartnicza, a pair of seventeen-year-old twins from Warsaw's Wola, who helped a man who was stabbed. The teenagers evacuated the injured person to their apartment, called an ambulance and the police, and then secured the bleeding until the rescue services arrived,


Filip Faltus, a sixteen-year-old resident of Dąbrowa Górnicza, together with the principal of the school he attends, helped the fire victims: a mother and her five-year-old child,


Michał Konarski, a sixteen-year-old first-grade high school student with a firefighting profile, who, thanks to his skills, courage and speed of reaction at the railway station in Opole, saved the life of an elderly man who suffered a sudden cardiac arrest, and then, together with SOK guards, performed resuscitation using a defibrillator, in as a result, the injured person's vital functions were restored,


Tymon Pelcer, a ten-year-old resident of Tczew, who showed a very quick reaction during swimming classes and saved a drowning friend,


Piotr Operhalski, a sixteen-year-old player of the GieKSa Young Academy, saved the life of a man who ran into an oncoming bus in Katowice.


"Safe Holidays with the Presidential Couple" is a cyclical event organized by the Presidential National Security Office in cooperation with services, formations, rescue organizations and institutions since 2017, addressed to children aged 6-12.


Participants have the opportunity to gain information on first aid, proper behavior in potentially threatening situations and safe movement in cyberspace. Representatives of services, formations and institutions share their knowledge and present, among others: rules of movement for pedestrians and cyclists, rules applicable during mountain hikes, relaxation by the water, first aid techniques, road rescue and training of service dogs. Additionally, event participants can see the equipment used by the formations present at the meeting.
