During the ceremony of presenting awards at the Presidential Palace, President Andrzej Duda recalled that the Warsaw Uprising Museum was opened 20 years ago by the then President of Warsaw, Prof. Lech Kaczyński – just as he had promised the insurgents.

A great debate took place then: why? Time has shown who was right; who was right, but time could show this thanks to your work. Today, thanks to your commitment and heart, young people come to the museum and learn about the history of Warsaw – said the President.

Andrzej Duda thanked the employees of the Warsaw Uprising Museum for creating and constantly improving the place, which "has become a model for others". He emphasized that for the Warsaw insurgents who come from all over the world, the commemorations of the Warsaw Uprising, which are carried out by volunteers and employees of the Warsaw Uprising Museum, are of great importance.

They will soon be gone. Thank you for all the testimonies you have collected, the recordings you have made. The significance of this is growing. The insurgents, as they say themselves, feel at home in the museum, they feel like hosts here. That was the point – to make them feel that this is Their place, which is not a monument, but is alive and lives for Them – said the President.
