Steam locomotives return to Wolsztyn

The great Steam Locomotive Parade will take place this Saturday.

Seven locomotives will take part in the 28th Steam Locomotive Parade, which will take place next Saturday in Wolsztyn. From now on, passengers can ride on trains driven by historic steam locomotives from various parts of Europe.

The Steam Locomotive Parade, organized in Wolsztyn since 1991, is one of the most important railway events in Europe. The event attracts thousands of tourists and railway enthusiasts from all corners of the world.

The locomotives are already reaching Wolsztyn. On Sunday, the first retro train driven by the Belgian Tubize 2069 steam locomotive will leave the station. The train will take railway enthusiasts to nearby Stefanów and back.

As announced by Waldemar Ligma, director of the Wolsztyn Locomotive Shed, a total of seven locomotives will take part in this year's parade: two Polish, two German and steam locomotives from the Czech Republic, Belgium and Luxembourg.

The event returns to its traditional May date. A year ago, steam locomotive enthusiasts met in August, but before that the event could not take place for several years.

The locomotive shed in Wolsztyn is the last in the world serving scheduled passenger transport by steam traction on a standard track. Currently, the Wolsztyn Roundhouse is a cultural institution of the Greater Poland Voivodeship.
