On July 25, 1731, the Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Bełchatów was consecrated - a Roman Catholic parish church belonging to the Bełchatów deanery of the Archdiocese of Łódź.

The brick temple and two chapels of the Mother of God and St. Francis of Assisi were built in 1721 by Stanisław Rychłowski, the standard-bearer of Sieradz. The building was consecrated on July 25, 1731 by the suffragan bishop of Gniezno, Franciszek Józef Kraszkowski. The church originally belonged to the Franciscans, whose monastery was founded in 1617.
After the January Uprising, the monastery was dissolved by the tsarist authorities, and the temple served from then on as a branch church for the parish in Grocholice. In 1893, by the decision of the bishop of Włocławek, Aleksander Kazimierz Bereśniewicz, the church was raised to the rank of a parish church
The church was built in the late Baroque style, it is oriented, consists of one nave and a narrower and lower chancel closed in a semicircle and a tower on the western side, having a porch in the lower storey. Next to the main nave on two sides are chapels: Our Lady of Bełchatów and the Holy Cross. The nave and chancel are covered with a barrel vault with lunettes. There are two large buttresses by the chancel.
