The National Bank of Poland warns against a sharp increase in prices

The government's anti-inflation measures are necessary. Without this, inflation may rise significantly.

If the government withdraws from anti-inflation measures, price increases may in some cases even temporarily exceed 20%. and food prices in the fourth quarter of this year. would increase by 6%.

The National Bank of Poland published an inflation report containing a forecast of inflation and GDP growth. It takes into account two scenarios: with and without protective measures.

The protective measures would consist in maintaining a zero VAT rate on food and anti-inflation shields on energy and gas. The second version assumes the abandonment of these activities.

Inflation with the extension of protective measures is expected to be 3%. in 2024, 3.4 percent in 2025 and 2.9 percent. in 2026.

Without the extension of protective measures, according to the National Bank of Poland it will be 5.7%. this year, 3.5 percent in 2025 and 2.7 percent in 2026
