The President of the Republic of Poland at the hydrogen conference in Canada

Andrzej Duda, the President of the Republic of Poland, took part in the Hydrogen Conference in Edmonton during his visit to Canada.

-Poland is one of the leading countries in the world in terms of the amount of hydrogen produced. Our production amounts to 1 million tons per year, which puts us in third place as a producer in the European Union and fifth in the world - said the Polish President.


The event was attended by representatives of Polish companies, start-ups and universities specializing in the production and use of hydrogen energy, including: for energy and transport purposes.


The President emphasized that in recent years the involvement of Poland and Canada in deepening bilateral relations has been visible. – In the last two years alone, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau visited Poland three times – said Andrzej Duda. He indicated that he also held talks with the Canadian Prime Minister during his current visit to Canada. The Polish leader also talked about numerous visits to our country by high-level federal and provincial politicians and business delegations. He noted that close cooperation between Poland and Canada has become more intense, thanks to our joint commitment to supporting Ukraine in the fight against the Russian aggressor.


During his speech, President Andrzej Duda pointed out that at the federal level, relations between our countries are dominated by security issues in the context of cooperation within the North Atlantic Alliance, as well as two conflicts: in Ukraine and the Middle East. – At the provincial level, a large part of our cooperation is related to clean energy technologies – he emphasized.


The Polish leader pointed out that in implementing "our commitment to achieve climate neutrality, Poland considers it important to develop clean hydrogen technologies."

He noted that in November 2021, the Council of Ministers adopted the "Polish Hydrogen Strategy" until 2030, which assumes, among others, implementation of hydrogen technologies in the energy and heating industry and the use of hydrogen as an alternative fuel in transport.


Our goal by 2030 is to launch 800 to 1,000 new hydrogen buses, including those produced in Poland, and to build at least 32 hydrogen refueling stations, said Andrzej Duda.


During the meeting with the Polish media, the President pointed out that during the Canadian Hydrogen Convention taking place today, the main topic of discussion was the production and use of hydrogen, as well as modern methods of obtaining this raw material.


There is a large representation of our Polish business at the Convention, including: PESA, which is proud of its hydrogen locomotive - absolutely one of the first in the world - said the President.
