The production of electric cars starts in Tychy

Small car models will be assembled in Tychy already in the second quarter of this year


Zhejiang Leapmotor Technologies, a Chinese company specializing in the production of

electric cars, will start producing small models at the Stellantis car factory in Tychy - Reuters reports, citing two people familiar with the company's plans.


Leapmotor will produce its T03 cars in Tychy in cooperation, as part of a joint venture initiative, with the international Stellantis group, whose headquarters are in the Netherlands.

Production of small electric cars is to start in the second quarter of 2024, one of the sources told Reuters.


At this time, neither Leapmotor nor Stellantis has responded to the agency's requests for comment on this information.


Last year, Stellantis announced that it intended to buy 21 percent. shares in a Chinese company; the deal with Leapmotor was supposed to be worth $1.6 billion. The agreement also provides for the creation of a joint venture that gives the Stellantis group the right to build, export and sell Leapomotor cars outside China.


China's market regulator approved the joint venture in March; The company's base is the Netherlands, and Stellantis owns 51 percent there. shares.
