Tusk's bull

Last Friday marks 100 days of Donald Tusk's government. It's time to sum up and account with the Prime Minister's promises. We can certainly forget about the higher tax-free amount, which was supposed to be PLN 60,000.

Tusk himself has admitted this during a press conference. There is no doubt that its implementation will not come into force in 2024. All because the budget does not allow for it. Tusk, however, emphasized that "the Minister of Finance is obliged to ensure that the tax-free amount is, one way or another, the result of their work - certainly not this year and certainly before the end of the term"

Deputy Minister of Finance Jarosław Neneman referred to the tax-free amount - "it will annually result in a decrease in public sector income from PIT compared to the base scenario (i.e. no changes) by approximately PLN -52.5 billion." He emphasized that the implementation of this idea from the Civic Coalition program "due to the participation of local government units (LGUs) in PIT revenues, introducing changes (in the tax-free amount - editor's note) requires special caution. Any changes in this area will be agreed with the local government," he added.
