During the first government of the PO-PSL coalition (2007-2015), the VAT gap was a very important problem. In this way, a lot of money was lost, which slowed down Poland's economic development. The United Right government has repeatedly claimed that it has tightened the tax system in Poland, which made it possible to introduce many social programs, with 500 Plus (currently 800 Plus) at the forefront.

Currently, the first problems related to VAT are already emerging. After May, the state budget deficit amounted to PLN 53.1 billion.
The first monthly data (concerning budget execution) from this year indicated that the budget had been well executed, and there were no reasons to amend it. At this point, there are no such reasons, but it is clear that the latest data are much worse and we will continue to look, especially at the implementation of VAT, at what is happening in the economy and on this basis we will be able to say whether the budget implementation is weak
– said Deputy Minister of Finance Jurand Drop. "The last two readings are certainly more disturbing than the previous ones," he added.
